A Clear-Cut Winner: The Slice
The Slice started hitting store shelves late last month, and almost immediately started hitting the blogosphere in forum discussions, product reviews, and shout-outs. It's clear that the new Slice Digital Cordless Cutter has won the personal die-cutter election, with feedback that includes:

  • "It's really easy to use and I love that it's so portable."
  • "The [Slice] fonts are wonderful on that cartridge, plus the images are great!!"
  • "...I think this will be something that everyone would like to have. The disks are what makes it, there are so many to choose from and the price of each just about can't be beat."

Some stores already sold out of their first Slice shipments, so please make sure to call your local craft store and get on their waiting list right away. There's still time to get a Slice of your very own before the holidays!

Great Handmade Gifts for Under $10!
If you're like any of us, you're looking for some fantastic and personalized gifts to give this year, WITHOUT breaking the bank. We challenged some of our favorite designers to help us come up with a series of precious gifts that fall in the $10-and-under range, but look like they are worth oh-so-much-more!

This darling teacher gift idea was sent to us by Stephanie Ackerman, who transformed a standard paint can using:

  • A glass mug filled with chocolates and candy canes (topped with a Slice-created tag and Making Memories trims)
  • A small brown paper bag filled with hot cocoa mix and decked out with Making Memories paper, plus the positive and negative design cuts from the Slice
  • A kraft journal that has been covered in Making Memories paper, a Slice design cut, ribbon and stick pin
  • 12 blank all-occasion cards embellished with Making Memories scraps, Slice images, and ribbons.

Visit our blog throughout the month to find loads of other fantastic gift ideas that bring a warm and personal touch, without the spendy price tag!

New York: Trim Pickins!
Audre and Tess just returned from their "top secret" mission to New York, where they were finding inspiration for Making Memories Next Big Program! While we're not at liberty to reveal their major findings yet (and they had a ton), they were willing to share a few delicious details with us.

"We spent a lot of time in the garment district, and hit the famed Chelsea Flea Market where we unearthed some exciting knick-knacks," Audre explains. "Of course we managed visits to Kate's Paperie and Papyrus, and we ate some of the greatest food ever - at Macy's basement, of all places!" Their most exciting discovery? "We found a store that was wall-to- wall ribbon. Ribbon EVERYWHERE! Tess and I probably logged four hours there, just filling basket after basket. It was unreal."

As for their next big creation? "It's already in the works," Audre says. "We can't wait to bring a taste of the Big Apple to our customers. Stay tuned!"
