Celebrate the Season with Treats for You!
We borrowed a little inspiration from our own "Decorate Life: Celebrations" book to share this treat-filled project with you. Using a basic glass jar, a few Making Memories Rub-ons, and a bag of your favorite candy, you can create this festive dispenser in a matter of minutes. Here's how:

  • Clean glass vase
  • List Halloween words for use on vase
  • Start on one side and work your way around, placing a mixture of rub-on sizes, styles, and colors
  • Overlap some words to create a continuous effect
  • Fill jar half-way with candy corn or other treats
  • Enjoy!

For more great ideas for throwing your own Halloween party, check out the Making Memories blog every Thursday this month!

VIRTUAL COSTUME CONTEST
Dressing up is so much fun, no matter how old you are. As we prepare our kids for their big trick-or-treat adventures, we thought it would be fun to dust off some of our old pictures and share our favorite Halloween costumes from, oh, a millennia ago! Visit our blog today to see some of your favorite designers and scrapbooking personalities in their bygone getups. It's definitely good for a few laughs!

See if you can correctly guess which designer is dressed up. If you guess correctly, you could be the winner of a huge collection of our new Halloween embellishments, papers, and albums. It's our treat to you! To participate, post your comment on our blog. The winner will be announced this Friday, October 12th.

Making Memories & Smilebox Support Breast Cancer Awareness
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Making Memories has teamed with Smilebox and Lifetime TV to promote courage, hope, and strength in the fight against this disease.

By visiting MM Greetings by Smilebox today, you will have access to a host of new Making Memories- designed layouts to use and share with friends. These pink-ribbon-accented pages offer greetings of hope and courage, mammogram reminders, and also include a link at the end to sign a petition encouraging the end of "drive through mastectomies."

Additionally, proceeds from the sale of premium Smilebox layouts will be donated to breast cancer awareness campaigns. So spread the word, and play a part in bringing an end to breast cancer. We appreciate your support!

TRICK OR TREAT PHOTO TIPS
Your Halloween darlings are picture-ready. Question is: are you? Here are some great photo tips from Maggie Holmes, to help you capture your little boys and ghouls in their trick-or-treat best, no matter how dark it is outside!

  • Lower your aperture. If you lower your aperture you can then increase your shutter speed. I suggest using the lowest aperture you can with the lens you have.
  • Increase your ISO. Increasing your ISO also allows you to use higher shutter speeds which will result in less blur. Just remember that with higher ISO settings you will have more grain or "noise" in your photos.
  • Use a tripod. Using a tripod will help a lot because it will cut out the camera shake and help you get a much sharper image at the lower shutter speed.
